About Sew, La, Tea
Empowering people of all ages to find their creative outlet
Dorothy Pino graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education in 2009 and a Master of Arts in Teaching in 2012 from Biola University. She is passionate about sharing her knowledge with others, as she understands the importance and value of expressing yourself through your art.
Dorothy began her musical journey as a 9 year old in beginning band on the flute. By the time she finished elementary school, she already played 10 instruments. In high school, she began playing guitar and performing at coffee shops as a singer/songwriter.
In college, she continued playing saxophone, flute, and clarinet in ensembles and musical theatre productions. She also continued writing and recording songs with fellow student musicians. When she graduated from college, she moved to Romania to bring instruments and music education to the students living at an orphanage in a village.
Upon her return to the United States, Dorothy began teaching at a rural K-12 school in Colorado. In 2012, she accepted a job as a music teacher in Denver Public Schools, and remained with them until her move to St. Louis in 2020.
While in St. Louis, Dorothy taught at a Pre-K-8 school for the first couple years. Desiring a change of pace, she began teaching sewing lessons and classes at the City Sewing Room while continuing to teach private music lessons. Having spent a significant amount of time in art lessons over COVID, Dorothy also started offering paint and sip classes. She taught these at local bars and breweries on Cherokee Street in St. Louis
After moving to Las Vegas in 2024, she resumed teaching in public schools as a music teacher. However, due to budget cuts for CCSD in the fall of 2026, Dorothy will have a more open schedule for lessons, and resume teaching private sewing lessons, music lessons, and paint and sip classes.
If you are in Las Vegas and would like to schedule a lesson, book here.
